About Us

At the heart of our practice is family — because we are one. As a second-generation, family-owned and operated dental office, we’ve proudly continued the tradition of trusted, personalized care that has made our patients feel like family since 1985.

Dr. Kevin Kast

Dr. Kevin has proudly been providing top-quality dental care since founding the practice in 1985. Originally from the small village of Payne in western Ohio, he grew up on his grandparents’ farm where he will proudly tell you he was the Betty Crocker of his high school, 1976.

After high school, he attended the University of Toledo, where he met his (arguably much) better half, Kathy. He then went on to earn his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from The Ohio State University — and only managed to set his hair on fire once during his time there.

In 1984, Dr. Kevin and Kathy settled on the shores of Lake Erie. Shortly after, they opened their dental practice and have been beloved fixtures in the community ever since.

Today, Dr. Kevin serves on the Board of Trustees for the Ida Rupp Public Library System. In his growing free time, he enjoys fondly obsessing over (and occasionally lamenting) his ever-expanding collection of plants, watching old cartoons, and reading books across just about every genre — ideally from a sunny spot on the beach. He’s also kept on his toes by his two mischievous kittens, Daphne Sue and Scooter. Dr. Kevin and Kathy have two children — Dr. Courtney and Steven — and even Steven didn’t escape the family business: he’s the office’s go-to IT expert. The newest member of the family is Steven’s wife, Hannah (they just tied the knot!). She’s the only one without an official role at the office — at least for now.

Dr. Kevin recently celebrated his 40th year in dentistry! Patients often say they love his quirky sense of humor and calming presence — he has a way of putting people at ease the moment they meet him. He says he’ll retire someday, but those who really know him know he probably won’t stop talking long enough to actually stop working.
And if you haven’t heard him ask, “What’s a henway?”
— don’t worry, you will.

Dr. Courtney Kast

Dr. Courtney was quite literally born into dentistry — her mom, Kathy, was still working in the office while pregnant with her. (Fortunately for all of us, Kathy is still the heart of the office today — quietly keeping us all afloat.)

A 2009 graduate of Port Clinton High School, Dr. Courtney went on to attend Otterbein University. Her undergraduate research thesis explored a portion of the immune system in endangered African Penguins — interesting choice, considering penguins don’t even have teeth!
Following in her father’s footsteps, she earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from The Ohio State University — and, in true family fashion, once set the lab bench on fire.

After dental school, Dr. Courtney returned to her hometown to carry on the tradition of providing top-notch dental care to the community she loves. Beyond the office, she’s deeply involved both locally and professionally — she co-directs the Port Clinton Sunday Farmers Market and serves as a delegate to the Ohio Dental Association, representing the North Central Ohio Dental Society. She has served on multiple ODA committees, including as Northwest Ohio’s Subdistrict 3 Representative.

In her free time, Dr. Courtney loves planning her next trip to Disney World, baking just about anything (with a few competition wins under her belt!), crafting charcuterie boards for friends and family, and listening to podcasts — especially ones about lesser known U.S. Presidents. If you had told teenage Dr. Courtney that one day the greatest compliment she'd receive from a patient would be, 'You are just like your dad," she never would’ve believed you — but adult Dr. Courtney is beyond proud to be carrying on the family tradition of great dentistry… and terrible jokes."
